Britain's Relations with Germany in the 1930s

The goal of this thesis is to analyze the relationship of Great Britain and Germany in the 1930s. It concerns itself with the political development in Britain between the world wars while focusing on the policy of appeasement, its roots, and its most famous exponent, Neville Chamberlain. The thesis also hopes to explain why both the Prime Minister and his policy failed. In its conclusion the thesis argues in defense of appeasement as well as in defense of Neville Chamberlain.
The Development of new traffic vehicles in Prague public transport (1918-1939):realised and unrealised projects

Main subject of the thesis is the history of public transport in Prague from 1918 to 1939 with focus on new means of public transport, with information divided into realized (buses and trolley buses) and unrealized projects (the underground). The thesis aims to broaden the current knowledge of inception and development of new means of transport and evaluate their measure of success. The introductory chapter summarizes the preceding development in public transport of Prague. The next is concerned with trams, the most common public transport vehicles of the era. The key part of the thesis consists of chapters focused on buses, trolley buses and proposed underground system. Those chapters deal with the circumstances of the conception of the projects, the causes that led to the projects being realized (or not), and subsequent development and success of those projects based among other sources on statistic data. Accomodation of university students in Prague between years 1918 and 1939

The diploma thesis deals with practical issues of life of the university students in Prague du- ring the inter-war period. The main attention is on types of student's living and additionally on fi- nancial aspects, catering and social life. The thesis consists of three parts.Introductory chapter eluci- dates the structure of universities and students in the years 1918-1939. Furthermore there are also results of statistical research concerning forms of accommodation of students in the years 1913/14, 1920/21, 1930/31, 1939/40. The basic source of this statistical research are catalogues of students of the Charles University and the Czech Technical University in Prague. The second chapter describes forms of accommodation, their general attributes and system of dormitories in this period. The conclusion consists of presentations of particular dormitories in Prague. The thesis draws infor- mation from archival material of the National Archive and other archives. A source of useful infor- mation were also brochures and press for students from this period, memoirs and literature on histo- ry of universities.

Pantomime and dance in the interwar period

This thesis deals with the status of pantomime and dance in the period between the wars. It examines the connection between the two genres. First it explains the basic concepts such as: pantomime, expressive dance and the interwar period. After that it is exploring the status of these art genres in Czechoslovakia. Furthermore it outlines several important personalities of the dance art which influenced the pantomime and the mimic theater with their actions. At the end, the work focuses on the importance of the dance for the mimic theater artists and it also examines the impact of an avant-garde art on the contemporary artistic creation.
